You must be a lot better with a pistol than I am. The 2" diameter groups needed to hit rabbits would limit me severely in range.

That may have a hard time with rabbits, at least effectively. An R7 is almost silent and would work well, that’s my goto, bit about 450$. On a bit of a budget I got a Crosman fury that is serviceable for about 100$ and has plenty of power and still fairly quiet.

If you’re shooting BBs, you’ve got nearly no chance of killing them. A proper rifled barrel shooting pellets...maybe. Most air pistols don’t have enough oomph.

Get one of these. 10 Round magazine, pump action. 1070 feet-per-second. That’ll teach ‘em. Still pretty quiet, too.

That’s because the bullet is far too small for a real American. Sizes start at .38.

.50AE is the only acceptable calibre for a true American.
Also, American calibres actually start at .22, then skip .354 and jump to .38.

yeah, I was wondering. a BB might chase a rabbit away, but I don’t think it’ll dispatch one. Bird, yes. A pellet air rifle would definitely do the job.

I bought a Glock 42 recently (.380) and had a couple people sniff “.380 is too weak, man.”
Uh, if I’m in a situation where 7 (or 14) rounds of .380 ain’t going to get the job done, I’m screwed anyway.

we do have .25 and .32 ACP, but if you shoot anyone with either of those you’ll just piss them off.
and I recently got a Ruger 77/44 bolt-action rifle in .44 Mag. Damn, I was surprised at how hard that thing kicks. I’m kind of amazed people can shoot that round in handguns.

We are having an issue with a rabbit. My fish and wildlife buddy warned me about shooting or trapping it without a hunting license. What he doesn’t know...
Unfortunately, the only gun in the house will also put sizable holes in the fence if I miss.

Harmless? Have you ever twisted your ankle stepping in a rabbit hole while mowing your OWN yard?
Strapped with a pistol is the first step.
The next is going full Caddy Shack on these mofos.

I’m just excited your pistol says Steyr on it. I shoot a real Steyr L9-A1 in competition and it’s a fantastic pistol, but severely underrated by pretty much everyone.
I use air pistols to practice in my apartment, since, you know, real bullets go through walls and are loud. I have a Gamo P900 IGT and a Beeman P17, both of which are break-action single shots, but that way I don’t have to worry about running out of CO2. To make a range, I got a whole bunch of cardboard boxes, cut them up, and layered them up inside one box. I probably have 20 layers of cardboard in there, and I think some newspaper as well. Then I found a site with scaled targets - international competition standards are 10m, but the best I can do is about 5m across the apartment, so they have targets for that. They print out 5 bullseyes on normal 8.5x11 targets. It’s a really good, effective, cheap way to practice.
If you’re looking for any tips, techniques, advice, I’d be more than happy to help or link you to some good youtube videos, etc.
